Art, Ecology & The Good Life

Join us for a facilitated conversation at the intersection of art, ecology and the good life. Our inaugural cohort of Maine Ecology and Art Residents (MEAR) will be joined in dialogue by the directors of Seguinland Institute, Philip Francis and Marsha Dunn, and the ED of The Parsonage Gallery, Aaron Rosen. MEAR emerges from the shared vision of Seguinland and the Parsonage to promote creativity and dialogue with exceptional contemporary artists exploring ecological themes. This year’s artists include Alicia Ethridge, Eileen Ryan, Brian Smith and Holden Willard. Come join in the conversation in Seguinland Treetop Gathering Space!

Partial Wreath Workshop at the Gathering Space

Join Maria from Fogwood Gardens for our annual dried flower wreath workshop in our Gathering Space!

In this workshop you will learn how to naturally preserve, store, and arrange wild and cultivated flora. Each participant will be given vines to create a medium wreath round, approximately 100 dried stems to build the chosen wreath designs featured in the photos, and either raffia or plant dyed silks for adding finishing touches.

The workshop will be held Saturday, January 4th from 2:00-5:00.

Our Designs:

Jewel Tones Wreath: Vibrant pink hues blended with soft blues, bold flowers and various textures.

Creamsicle Wreath: Light greens, white and peachy orange mixed with fragrant eucalyptus and airy grasses.

This workshop is intended to teach wreath patterns, and how to build a wreath with specific tones and intention. We will also be learning how to create drama. or the more traditional, tight designs. You will leave with a beautiful, long lasting partial wreath.

To find the Gathering Space, put 116 Back River Bend 04548 into your maps, stay on that road for about a minute until you see the wooden bridge on your left. Park there to the side of the road and walk across the bridge to the gathering space.
