View from master porch to the living room at Souhegan Treehouse. Seguin, tree dwellings on the coast of Maine.

Souhegan

"Watching Place" - This modern tree dwelling is the place to experience the airiness of life up among the trees.  Souhegan is perched atop a 21-acre wooded hill sloping to dramatic river views and conservation land.  It features a wood-fired cedar hot tub 18’ up in the trees, which is accessed by a rope bridge from the primary structure. In the master bedroom you can enjoy the hygge of a Scandinavian gas fireplace as you gaze out the wall of windows into the tree canopy and to the river beyond.

Overview

Souhegan is composed of three connected structures. The first structure contains a master bedroom on the second floor and a small kitchen/dining room on the first floor, along with with a small full bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed (two twins upon request) and a wall of south facing windows affording stunning river views and sunshine in the morning.

Large vintage swing-out windows open from the kitchen/dining area onto a small screened-in porch with rockers and river views. Kitchen includes: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven) and, importantly, a cork screw!

Additional cooking details: there’s a charcoal grill for cookouts by the dwelling, please provide your own charcoal .

For late night stargazing & s’mores there’s a fire-pit on ground level. Please provide your own fire-wood for the fire-pit.

The second structure is a convertible space with a wall of river-facing windows. Upon request, we can set it up as a second bedroom (with either king size bed or two twins) or we can set it up as a living room space with sofas and a coffee table. There is a water-facing veranda off the front.

The third structure holds a wood-fired cedar hot tub upon a stand-alone deck with river views. We provide the wood to heat up the hot tub.

Entire Property Note: We also offer guests the option to book the Entire Property, including all 21 acres, all 3 tree dwellings, gathering space in the trees and cookhouse. The gathering space is a pristine 24x32 lofted room built around three mammoth pines. It contains walls of windows and a 32’ x 12’ deck overlooking the river. Table and chairs collapse and hide for open space. Our latest addition, the cookhouse, is a fully equipped kitchen, with a long community style table with space for 20 people. Perfect for board-games and dinners with friends and family.
